The AI planner

A planner that has read your recipes.

Ask for what the week needs — a budget, more protein, a vegetarian night, the spinach to use up. Coena looks at your kitchen and proposes a plan, a list or a new recipe. You decide what happens.

Try: What can I make tonight with what's in my fridge?

Ask like you'd ask a friend who cooks

The things you actually wonder at 5 pm.

  • “Plan a week of high-protein dinners under $150”

A seven-day plan from your recipes (and a few new ones), the shopping list and what it costs at your stores.

  • “What can I make tonight with what's in my fridge?”

Recipes ranked by what you have, with the one or two things you'd need.

  • “Use up the spinach before Friday”

Dinners that use it, placed on the days before it expires.

  • “Make Tuesday vegetarian”

A swap for Tuesday's dinner that fits the rest of the week.

  • “Build a shopping list for Sunday meal prep”

One list for everything you're batch-cooking, merged and sorted by aisle.

The recipe scaled to six, minus what's in the pantry.

  • “Find a recipe like my chana masala but faster”

A new recipe in the same spirit, ready to save to your library.

  • “We're two adults and a toddler, no nuts — plan the week”

A plan that respects your household's size, preferences and allergies.

It knows your kitchen

Plans from your recipes, not the internet's.

The planner works from what's in your Coena: the recipes you've saved and rated, what you've cooked lately, what's in the pantry and when it expires, the week's plan and lists, and your household's size, preferences and allergies. When a plan needs something new, it writes a full recipe you can keep.

  • Favorites and recent cooks, so the week isn't seven new experiments
  • Pantry and expiry dates, so the yogurt gets used
  • Prices at your stores, so a budget means something
  • Dietary preferences and allergies, every time

You stay in charge

It proposes. You apply.

The planner never changes your kitchen on its own. Every plan, list or recipe arrives as a card you can apply, edit or discard — and every change it makes can be undone.

  1. ApplyMeals land on the planner and items on your list, exactly as shown.
  2. EditSwap Wednesday, change servings or drop an item before anything is saved.
  3. UndoChanged your mind? Undo puts everything back the way it was.

Honest by design

Straight about prices, careful with your data.

Prices with a source Every total says where it came from — live prices from a named store, community prices or estimates. The planner never makes up a price.
Only your kitchen It reads your kitchen's data and nothing else, and treats recipe text as ingredients and steps — never as instructions.
Food, not medicine It's happy to talk protein and fiber, and it respects allergies, but it won't give medical or diet advice. That's your doctor's job.

Don't want AI? Turn it off with one switch in Settings. The planner disappears, AI imports and photos switch off, and nothing you do goes to an AI provider — enforced on the server, not just hidden. Coena is still a great recipe box, planner and shopping list without it.

The planner runs on Claude, by Anthropic. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, what Coena sends isn't used to train their models. Free kitchens get 10 questions a day and Coena Plus kitchens 60; see pricing.
